About furnace tune-ups

The flame sensor proves the burner has lit, and a thin layer of oxidation on it is the classic cause of a furnace that lights and shuts off within seconds. Cleaning it each year prevents that call. The inducer and its tubes have to move combustion gases out before the burner can fire, and the pressure switch shuts the furnace down if they are blocked. Checking motor amps catches a motor that is starting to work too hard before it fails on a cold night.
