Commack, NYFurnace RepairTechnician: ShabbyDecember 2025
A no-heat call. The furnace control board was not powering the inducer and blower. We replaced the board and the igniter and cleaned the coil.

What the homeowner reported
The homeowners had no heat.
What we found
The furnace control board had failed: it was not sending proper power to the inducer motor, and the blower motor would not turn on.
What we did
With the homeowners' approval, Shabby picked up a new control board and replaced it, replaced the hot surface igniter, cleaned the evaporator coil and test-ran the furnace.
Visits and time on site
Two visits: a diagnosis visit, then a return the next day with the new control board.
The result
The furnace was working well after the new control board went in.

About furnace control boards
The control board runs the furnace's start-up sequence: inducer, pressure check, igniter, gas valve, flame proving and blower. When the board fails, any step can stop, so the furnace may hum, click or do nothing at all. Burn marks or a dead output on the board confirm it. A failed board is replaced with one matched to the furnace, then the full sequence is tested.
