AC leaking water: clogged drain cleared and the unit leveled

An air conditioner was leaking water. The drain line was clogged and the indoor unit was not level; we cleared the line with nitrogen and leveled it.

What the homeowner reported
The homeowner called because the air conditioning system was leaking water.
What we found
The condensate drain line was clogged, so water collecting under the cooling coil had nowhere to go. The indoor unit was also not level, which let water pool in the wrong part of the pan instead of running to the drain.
What we did
Waseem and Justin opened the clogged drain line with nitrogen, then leveled the unit so condensate flows toward the drain connection. They checked the rest of the system while they were there.
Visits and time on site
One visit, with about four hours on the job as recorded.
The result
With the drain clear and the unit level, the leak was stopped and everything else checked out.

About condensate leaks
An air conditioner pulls a lot of water out of humid Long Island air, and all of it has to drain away. Algae and dust can clog the line, and a unit that has settled out of level can pool water in a corner of the pan away from the drain. A float switch in the line or pan is designed to shut the system off before water overflows; if your system stops cooling and the pan is full, that is often why. Clearing the line with nitrogen pushes the clog out without chemicals, and keeping the unit level lets gravity do the rest.
