What the homeowner reported

An earlier visit had diagnosed the first-floor system, a Goodman, and found it needed a new condenser fan motor, a new pad under the condenser and filters.

What we found

The condenser fan motor had to be replaced. The motor details taken on the first visit were wrong, so the team got the correct motor information before the install.

What we did

Waseem and Justin installed the new condenser fan motor and replaced the capacitor. The job also covered replacing the condenser pad, raising the unit without recovering refrigerant, leveling the ground and setting a new pad.

Visits and time on site

Two visits: the first motor information was wrong, so the team came back the next day with the correct motor.

The result

With the new fan motor installed, they checked the fan motor and compressor amps, and the system was working properly.

About condenser fan motors

The outdoor fan pulls air through the condenser coil so the refrigerant can shed the heat it carried out of the house. When the motor fails, the compressor overheats and shuts off, and the house stops cooling. Fan motors come in many sizes and speeds, so matching the replacement to the unit matters. A level pad keeps the condenser from tipping and stressing its refrigerant lines.
