A combined change-out: the old gas boiler, the attic air handler and outdoor unit, and the old ductwork were all replaced, with new grilles and Wi-Fi thermostats.

What the homeowner reported
The homeowners wanted to replace both the heating and the cooling at once: an aging gas boiler, and a central air system whose attic ductwork was due for replacement.
What we found
The plan recorded on the job was a complete removal of the existing boiler and cooling equipment, along with the old duct system in the attic, so the new system would move air properly. The water heater was judged not to need replacing yet.
What we did
The crew shut down, drained and removed the old gas boiler and installed a new one with its gas, water and electrical connections. In the attic they dismantled the old air handler and the old supply and return ducts, then installed the new cooling equipment with new ductwork. They swapped both thermostats for Wi-Fi models, and fitted new supply grilles on the first and second floors where the duct changes required them.
Visits and time on site
Several days on site, as an installation crew job, with a return trip to finish the grilles.
The result
The new boiler and central air system were installed with new ductwork, both Wi-Fi thermostats were working, and the grilles on both floors were completed.

About replacing heating, cooling and ducts together
When both the boiler and the central air are near the end of their lives, replacing them in one project means one round of disruption, and it is the best time to fix ductwork, because the attic is already open and the new air handler can be matched to new supply and return runs. Old ducts that leak or are undersized hold back even a brand-new system. Planning grille sizes and locations room by room avoids rooms that stay warm or cold after the work is done.
