About dual run capacitors
A dual run capacitor serves both the compressor and the outdoor fan motor, with one rating for each, such as 70/10. As it ages, its capacity drops, and a meter test during maintenance shows that before it fails. Replacing a weak one in spring is easier than an emergency call on the first hot day, and it protects the compressor from hard starts.
